Roger Smith, a quite competent swimmer, is out for a leisurely stroll. During the course of his walk he passes by a deserted pier from which a teenage boy who apparently cannot swim has fallen into the water. The boy is screaming for help. Smith recognizes that there is absolutely no danger to himself if he jumps in to save the boy; he could easily succeed if he tried. Nevertheless, he chooses to ignore the boy’s cries. The water is cold and he is afraid of catching a cold — he doesn’t want to get his good clothes wet either. “Why should I inconvenience myself for this kid,” Smith says to himself, and passes on.

1.) There are always TWO sides to a conscience. What would Roger’s conscience be telling him?

Rogers conscience was telling him that what is that boy that is far more important than me his conscience is telling him that who cares why should save besides i have better things to do than save a life. this is showing that Roger’s moral development theory is very low as he places his own clothes deemend more important than a poor innocent life.

2.) Think of an example of Jesus’ teaching and explain how his teachings can help us to make an appropriate decision?

One the most common teaching that jesus told us was that “love one another as i have loved you” this quote tells us that we must love one another like jesus that we would do anything for the ones we love also those who are need of love and compasion as they are the ones who need the ost guidence in life.

Love God

  1. what requires of me when I’m in a relationship with is god is that I have to carry out his word spread the word of god so people can open their eyes to the light and gain the key to heaven. We also have to follow the ten commandants e.g. you shall not use God’s name in vain. Also to get closer to God we must try and live the life and follow the foot steps of Jesus, do see his death in vain we have to take the opportunity of his forgiving of our sin and finish of the work Jesus started spread the good news.

  Love self and neighbour

2. I must give the same respect as all human beings deserve that your neighbour must like your family were you help each other in times of need. Loving my self as I would a neighbour also means that we should respect others as we would like to be respected. This also means that we must not hate each other or envy each other for what we have or don’t have be friends for who they are not for what they have.
